Digital 2013 Coverage: Notes from the conference

Today we are at Digital 2013, set to be a day of frantically live blogging! The wifi connection looked worrying at the start but was eventually tackled but expect typos galore. The theme is “designing your presence”.  Here’s the program – the links will only start to work shortly after each session:

Google-less March – could you live with no Google for a month?

Print Hut have decided to do exactly this for the whole of March 2013 as a protest to Google’s ‘Go Paperless’ Campaign’.

They have been inspired by a letter written by Two Sides to Mr Eric Schmidt of Google highlighting their concerns that Google and other companies are trying to show themselves as being “environmentally preferable to print and paper whereas there is significant evidence that electronic communication, and Google’s activities in particular, carry a significant and increasing environmental footprint.

It’s clear that local and social really can’t be viewed in isolation any more. Local ties in with social, which ties in with SEO, which ties in with content marketing, which ties in with social – in the near future great Google rankings are only going to be achieved by those being great at all of them.
