Facebook have just announced that they will take a 30% cut of payments made for virtual goods using their expanding virtual currency program.

Now this is for high profit margin items so is not comparable with say Amazon’s 15% take. However as Mashable have noted it is comparable to Apple’s app store policy.

Whilst developers of virtual goods (apps etc) will be able to afford it, it doesn’t mean they’ll be happy about it. Could we see the same sort of emerging anti-Apple sentiment spread to Facebook? And ultimately new social networks capitalising on it?
