In a move which is only surprising in how long it has taken and the limit of its scope, the Google AdWords blog has just announced a beta test of demographically targeted adverts.

Sadly though the announcement is a bit of a damp squib as it only applies to their content network (not Google itself), and even then only a (likely pretty small) proportion of it.

If and when demographic targeting is added to search advertising in the way that Microsoft AdCenter offers, then that really will be worth blogging about at 7 in the morning. (I started writing this at 7, waiting for a conference call)
