Attacat e-Performance Seminar: Using Google Analytics to Increase Conversions

Apex International Hotel
25th October 2007, 18:00 to 20:00

Main Speaker Brian O’Sullivan of Google Analytics

For the very first time Google Analytics will be presenting in Scotland! Attacat are thrilled to offer you this chance to learn more about Analytics, pick up some insider tips and give you the opportunity to ‘ask the expert’.

This, our next Attacat e-Performance Seminar, is scheduled for the evening of Thursday 25th October.

The Agenda.

Making the most of your Analytics Data

Brian O’Sullivan will be joining us from the Analytics Team in Google HQ to deliver a practical presentation on Google Analytics.

As a free tool, Google Analytics is one of the most comprehensive web analytics tools available. Google Analytics is delivering increasingly detailed web statistics to hundreds of thousands of sites around the world. The information provided allows for very detailed analysis of web performance, and can guide decisions that can revolutionise a website. However, with the wealth of information available, is it possible to get lost in the figures? Brian O’Sullivan will be delivering a practical presentation focusing on how to make the most of the data available with view to increasing the performance of your site.

From Data to Action – A Case Study

The correct analysis of Google Analytics data can provide you with invaluable information – information which can be used to determine changes to be made to your site. Chris McGuire of Mercurytide will be taking us through some case studies where he has used information provided by Analytics to make effective changes onsite, which have had impressive results for his clients.

Ask the Expert

Tim Barlow of Attacat will host the Q&A session, giving you the opportunity to canvass the speakers with any questions you may have.

Arrangements

The seminar will be held in the Edinburgh Apex International Hotel from 18:00 to 20:00 on Thursday 25th October. Refreshments will be served on arrival and we will no doubt retreat to the hotel bar afterwards – we hope you will be able to join us!

This event is designed for current users of Google Analytics who are looking to get the most from their account, or for those thinking about creating an Analytics account and are looking for more information.

Tickets cost £15.00 and are available for purchase online (max. 2 individuals from anyone company please). There is a limited availability of places at the seminar and we are expecting a very high turnout, so we would recommend signing up soon to avoid disappointment.

May 2007

Attacat Seminar: Impact of Google Adwords on Site Design.

Thursday 10th May 2007 17:30 – 19:30.
Royal College of Surgeons Quincentenary Hall, Edinburgh.

The event, tailored specifically to web developers, discussed the implications of Google AdWords on the website design process. The purpose of this seminar was to provide useable suggestions and tips on designing a site that will get the most out of an AdWords campaign.

The Agenda

Google’s Landing Page Algorithm

Google are increasingly seeking to reward advertisers who offer a good user experience. Their assessment of a web page’s “quality” is now part of the process of determining how much they charge an advertiser. With echoes of “back-in-the-day” search engine algorithms, web designers are once again having to think about factors such as keyword density. Tim Barlow of Attacat will introduce us to the AdWords landing page algorithm, explaining both what we know definitively as well as that which we can speculate about.

Best Practice for In-site Search Engines

Web user’s expectations for search are increasing as Google and other engines provide increasingly relevant and intuitive search results. But what happens when these same users try a search within a site? Most do not possess the design and logic that make some of the web search engines a pleasure to use, and the user experience can suddenly be damaged – perhaps fatally (i.e. the user gives up). Chris Rourke of User Vision will take us through some of the best – and worst – practices for within site search engine design, with plenty of examples to learn from.

Basic Principles of Converting Adwords Clicks

AdWords is a competitive environment. But a website that makes the most of every AdWords’ click will achieve fantastic returns. Tim Barlow, MD of Attacat, will help us get into the head of the AdWords visitor and identify some key strategies that can be implemented at the design stage.
