A Hume has demonstrated that traditional values can deliver online results. The family shop has been a key feature on the square in Kelso for over 90 years and, throughout that time, three generations of Humes have been kitting out the Scottish Border farmer and landowner community with the finest tweeds and fabrics. 2007 saw their first website and we were brought in 2012 to build on their early online success - a job we continue to do until this day.

The challenge

Make the most of the search opportunity (Google Ads and organic SEO) to become the leading online country outfitter. That was the primary task but now we work in closer partnership to continue to not only tick that box but also look for online growth opportunities in general.

Archie and Karen, the founders, have been able to progress to the next stage of that dream by beginning to pass on the reins of the business to another Border textile family. The benefits will remain in the Kelso community. Indeed there are the beginnings of Kelso’s own tech hub emerging with Kelso based employees having developed digital skills from the experience.
