Nordic Outdoor provides quality Scandinavian Outdoor Clothing & Equipment. Competing in a competitive market, they stand out by retaining their core values of sustainability, function and style in everything they stock.

Attacat, working closely with the Nordic team, have delivered strong year-on-year growth for each of the last three years.

The challenge

Nordic Outdoor’s ambition was to grow their modest online presence from a Donald to a Munro*. They were under no illusions that this would be quick, as they were keen to play to their existing strengths, keep costs low and maximise efficiency to reach dizzy revenue heights in the long term.

*A Munro is a Scottish mountain over 3000ft (i.e. the biggest the UK has to offer and much larger than their baby cousins, the Donalds, who have a prominence of a mere 100ft.)

The approach

It was clear that Nordic Outdoor’s key opportunity to beat much larger competitors was to grow visibility for premium, specialist Scandinavian brands such as Hilleberg, and Gransfors Bruks.

Tech SEO and UX for rankings

Utilising our internal skill sets in SEO and UX we conducted intensive consolidation and optimisation of the content, link structure and user experience for these brands in order to command top organic rankings.

Maximum return from Paid Search

Extensive keyword research and optimisation of the most popular and profitable Google search terms for these brands produced significantly improved return on the PPC investment.

Profitable shopping campaigns

Google Shopping campaigns were also utilized to showcase Nordic Outdoor’s key brand products to a tailored audience and help convince the end user to make a direct purchase. This helped increase conversions rates and drive profitable revenue.

Successful replatforming

Our technical SEO, paid and UX skills, coupled with our proven migration process, de-risked the upgrade to a new ecommerce platform in 2020. Like any successful outdoor expedition we methodically planned and assessed every risk whilst opening up additional opportunities.
